What is a balance sheet? A balance sheet is a financial term that includes two parts – assets and liabilities. Assets show where a company’s funds have been used, while liabilities show from what sources these funds have been obtained. The golden rule of the balance sheet is that assets and liabilities must be in balance. So the BA School of Business and Finance (BASBF), on 16 November, at the Junior Achievement Latvia conference for secondary school students “Dare to Win”, gave a challenge to secondary school students – dare to keep a balance sheet!
In total, 140 young people took part in the challenge and fought as hard as they could to keep the balance and win the prize – a surprise bag with gifts from the BASBF. Both boys and girls fought. Alongside the activity, we also introduced to the secondary school students study programs and opportunities for students offered by the BASBF, including preparatory mathematics courses, which will be useful as the exam time approaches.
At the end of the day, our winner in the men’s group – Klāvs Zīle, kept the “balance” for 4 minutes and 30 seconds! Congratulations to Klāvs! In the women’s group – Emilia Dzeniša with a time of 1 minute and 40 seconds! Congratulations to Emilia!
