SEB Expert Panel Discussion “Meaningful Work – How to Find It?” at BASBF

03.01.2023.

On December students of the 1st and 2nd year of the BA School of Business and Finance were visited by our long-term partner SEB Latvia and SEB Latvia employees – graduates of the BA School of Business and Finance! We are proud that many of our students choose SEB as their internship and workplace every year! The graduates, who have been developing and climbing the career ladder at SEB for several years, visited us with a panel discussion “Meaningful work – how to find it?”.

Participants of the Panel discussion:

  • Aleksandra Borcova, Cash Management Business Manager, SEB Bank
  • Miks Opelts, Delivery Team Lead, SEB Bank
  • Juris Laicans, Global Process Manager, Private Banking Operations & Reconciliation, SEB Global Services
  • Ilona Fomicova, Team Manager, Equity Derivatives and Cash Equities Support Operations, SEB Global Services

The discussion was moderated by Nelda Marija Leimane, HR Business Partner at SEB Bank.

During the panel discussion, the experts talked about their individual experiences and shared real-life stories about how to grow from a trainee to a manager, what good employees need and what it means to work at SEB Bank.

“Today, ambitious young people are no longer satisfied with a simple internship program – they want to get involved in real projects, take initiative, demonstrate themselves and their skills, and come up with their solutions. For bank professionals, it is important to hear young people’s evaluations and suggestions on how to improve customer service, especially for young people. This is the basis on which SEB Bank and the SEB Global Services design their internship programs each year. As an example, SEB Bank’s Youth LAB internship, which will take place for the fifth time this year, gives young people the opportunity to gain knowledge and practical work experience in the Bank, solve real business challenges, meet inspiring people, engage in various activities, and build professional relationships that are important for their future careers. The program runs for two months – from the beginning of July until the end of August, and is open to students from all backgrounds. For anyone looking for a meaningful job, this is an excellent opportunity to explore it,”

says Kristine Sonmane, Employer Branding group Lead in Baltic Banks at SEB.

We would like to thank the SEB team and experts for transforming the conference room, and creating a real SEB Bank atmosphere. As well as thank you for a great panel discussion! Our students will soon be going on internships, so we are glad that they had this opportunity to meet the graduates who are building their careers at SEB.
