Throughout the academic year, students from BA School of Business and Finance are offered different opportunities and one of them is not only the opportunity to study semester in the Erasmus+ exchange programme, but also to go to various international weeks. These are great opportunities for students to gain new experiences in an international environment, get to know other students and also improve their english knowledge.
On March 19-24 International Markating Week (IMW Paris 2023) was held in Paris, Université Sorbonne Paris Nord. The topic of the week was Sustainable development for Petit Forestier. 53 students from 11 universities participated in the international week, including 9 students from BA School of Business and Finance:
Emīlija Jurča (2nd study year), Baiba Sroža (3rd study year), Paula Tīruma (3rd study year), Marika Maslauska (3rd study year), Linda Solocka (3rd study year), Marija Magdalena Ļesņevska (4th study year), Laura Krievkalne (4th study year), Ņikira Kuprijanovs (4th study year) and Hovhanness Zakoyan (4th study year). Along with the students, the Marketing week was also attended by assistant professor Janis Hermanis and Deniss Mihailovs (IT project manager from IT deparment), who had the opportunity to assess how these types of events are organized in order to provide support for Business weeks held at the BA School of Business and Finance.
Aims of the marketing week were:
- Get familiar with sustainability
- Experience a real business case with a European company – Petit Forestier
- Work collaboratively in English-speaking multicultural groups
- Enjoy Paris
Meanwhile the assignments were:
- The Pre-Assignment – Benchmarking: “Increase your knowledge about sustainability in refrigerated urban delivery”
- Template 1– Petit Forestier helps his customers to define their carbon footprint
- Template 2 -Launching a new carbon reduction offer using Lean Canvas
Assistant Professor of BA School of Business and Finance Janis Hermanis:
My benefit was definitely to get experience of how business weeks are organised in other universities. On the other hand, the benefit of BA School of Business and Finance as an institution of higher education is that students are given the opportunity to work directly, outside the usual environment, on a team with people who are not known until then in achieving the common goal. It’s a unique experience that we encourage every student to use.
