GET TO KNOW THE SCHOLAR:
Eva:
“My name is Eva Ūbele, I’m 21 years old and I am a 3rd year student in programme “Business Process Management”. In my 2nd year I joined the Student Council by starting as a Head of Internal and External Communications and now since July 1st I am the head of Student Council. I try to make time for my hobbies – being a part of two choirs – Choir “Monēta” (BA School of Business and Finance) and Choir “Cesvaine”. I could describe myself as a creative person, music is not a stranger to me. Sometimes when I feel inspired I sit down and play piano or in summer time I can play some dance music on accordion.”
How did Eva became what she is now?
“As I recall, I have always had a high sense of responsibility. If I started to do something, then I am in it 100%, definitely raised by my mother this way by taking me to different activities from the age of 3. In my opinion, a very big event in the development of my “Eva” moment is when I went to the Erasmus summer camp for 10 days after 9th grade. The camp pulled the introverted elementary-school Eva out of the comfort zone and made her communicate with young people from other countries and work with them on teams. Since then, I’ve started to jump more and more into challenges and develop my leadership. No doubt that also teachers of Cesvaines Secondary School and lecturers of BASBF had a huge role in developing this “Eva”.”
Eva’s goals:
“One of my goals, which I wasn’t sure about in the first year, is to start my own business in my native Madona county. I don’t know in what niche yet, but I know it must be in Madona. I often hear from my peers that there is nothing to do in the “countryside”, there is no desire to go back to the “countryside”, but I believe that we ourselves are the ones that make it necessary to stay in small towns and create jobs for others to stay. I think it’s also my motivation to stick to this goal, it’s hard to describe it, but the best explanation for that feeling is “mission.””
What this Scholarship means to Eva:
“Getting a scholarship touched me deeply and has given me a huge amount of energy to keep going and do even better and more powerfully, to get a maximum of what studies, the Student Council and life gives me. I feel appreciated, I feel that my performance and my efforts have been noticed. I believe that this scholarship is an excellent motivator for other students to improve themselves, not only in studies, but also outside, for example – in the Student Council!”
