Demonstrating the close cooperation of the BA School of Business and Finance, in December the audit, tax, accounting, and financial consulting company BDO Latvia visited the first and second-year students of the BA School of Business and Finance with a guest lecture “Future opportunities in field of finance”. The guest lecturers were Alumni of the BA School of Business and Finance, who are successfully building their careers at BDO Latvia:
- Ringolds Kalnins, Assistant project Manager of the Audit Department, introduced the company – what it means to be a part of BDO Latvia, and what working in the audit department involves.
- Audit department consultant Kristers Keveris told us about combining work with studies, as well as combining studies and work with a serious and time-consuming hobby – playing music in a music band, which also actively performs concerts.
- Mareks Rastopcins, the Senior Audit Analyst at the Audit Department, explained how he got into auditing, what were the initial challenges, how he managed to combine work and studies, and how he sees his future development.
In the second part of the meeting, Eva Plaveja, Director of Human Resources at BDO Latvia, told us about the additional benefits of working in the audit department… We were really proud to know that 90% of BDO audit department employees are graduates of the BA School of Business and Finance!
The day after the guest lecture at the BA School of Business and Finance, the second-year students of our bachelor study program “International Finance” visited the BDO Latvia office, where the students met with the company’s employees – graduates of the BA School of Business and Finance to learn more about the daily life and work at BDO Latvia and to get the answer to one of the most important questions – how to become a part of the BDO Latvia team!
Tereza Korsaka, Head of the Career Centre at the BA School of Business and Finance: “Upon arrival, we were friendly greeted by BDO Human Resources Director Eva Plaveja, who, together with graduates of the BA School of Business and Finance who are currently working at BDO Latvia, introduced us to the company’s employees, told us about the daily work of the audit department. It was a pleasure to see how our graduates, who started working at BDO Latvia during their studies, continue to grow and develop in the company! During the visit, students were offered internships, and they also learned about the opportunities – how to climb the career stairs within the company. Our students took advantage of the opportunity and showed great interest in the work and opportunities offered by BDO Latvia. I invite them to take advantage of such opportunities in the future, to meet companies face to face, to learn, to see, and to ask.”
Huge thank you to our partners for the gift – a football table! Already on the first day, the table brought the most positive emotions and competitive spirit to the students on the 1st floor of the university! One of the values of the university is collaboration and the new table is an innovative and creative way for students to work together to achieve the goal of winning the game.
