BA School of Business and Finance – part of The Baltic University Programme

29.03.2023.

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is one of the largest university cooperation programmes in the world, involving around 90 universities in the Baltic Sea region that cooperate in education and research in the field of sustainable development and democracy. In late 2022, BA School of Business and Finance renewed its participation in the program, meaning that researchers from BA School of Business and Finance, as well as young researchers, will be able to continue to take advantage of various collaborative opportunities, programs, participation in conferences, and many other useful opportunities to improve and promote both themselves, their projects, and the BA School of Business and Finance. It should be mentioned that each year there is a competition for the best promotions work in sustainability and in 2019 the Associate Professor N. Cudecka-Purina of the BA School of Business and Finance won this nomination in social sciences with her thesis “Ensuring municipal waste Management sustainability by Administration of Landfill Management companies”.

Several researchers from the BA School of Business and Finance have already taken advantage of the opportunities offered by participating in the Baltic University Programme.

Lecturer Inga Uvarova about experience in conference “Sustainable Consumption and Production: How to make it possible”:

In late 2022, I participated in an international conference “SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION: HOW TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE”, with the report “THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY PRINCIPLES AND PERSPECTIVES OF THEIR ADOPTION INTO COMPANIES”. This conference was organised by Kaunas University of Technology in cooperation with the Baltic University Programme. The conference was about an ongoing research topic for me and had the opportunity to present the results of my research and promote our research project “Quadruple Helix Concept (QHC) as a basis for the new generation PPP model.

BA School of Business and Finance is a Member of the Baltic University Programme and as members we had the opportunity to participate in this conference free of charge. It is indeed a valuable opportunity at international level to meet with other researchers, politicians and practitioners where we discussed the themes of sustainability, green business and circular economy. This conference was attended by high-level politicians and representatives of the Lithuanian government. Further research into sustainability and circular economy issues and the promotion of knowledge are among the priorities of Baltic University Programme members, closely aligned with the research priorities and my research interests of the BA School of Business and Finance.

The Baltic University Programme as a whole is a valuable network of cooperation with international colleagues that enables us to build new knowledge of sustainability together.

Dzintra Atstaja, Professor of BA School of Business and Finance:

I have been active in the Baltic University Programme since 2005-2017. It helped develop new and up-to-date study courses, acquire modern learning methods, facilitated exchange of experience with other Baltic University Programme partner university faculty. I am delighted with the colleagues who have taken this opportunity so far and will continue to do so.

Jekabs Dambergs, Alumni of BA School of Business and Finance about participating in the programme:

My participation in the Baltic University Programme opened the door to a new world where sustainable development and efficient use of resources are a priority. I first encountered this programme in a 2-week sailing tour of the North and Baltic seas organised by BUP, which was not only a fantastic experience but also made it possible to meet new friends from around the world who I still keep in touch with. For years to come, I continued to participate in other projects and conferences organised by BUP, where I just expanded my range of knowledge and contacts. The experience I’ve gained from this Programme over the years has taken me to distant paths I couldn’t think of before. It all started with an innocent participation in a sailing trip.
