On successful graduation of the programme, the graduates obtain Professional Master’s Diploma and the qualification: “company and office manager” which corresponds to the 5th professional qualification level and it corresponds to the level 7 of the Latvian Qualification Framework (LGF) and European Qualification Framework level 7.
Specific admission requirements:
Immatriculation, that is the enrolment in the study programme is organized according to the Enrollment Regulations of the School, which are being endorsed by the Senate for each coming academic year.
Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)
For recognition of non- formal and informal learning there is a legal framework to promote and implement lifelong learning. On January 10, 2012, the Cabinet of Ministers issued “Rules of Procedure for Recognition of Learning outcomes in Prior Learning or professional experience”, Number 36. The procedural documents have been developed by the School and endorsed by the Senate.( hyperlink) Lifelong learning activities have been designed to facilitate LLL. Programmes are designed with Learning outcomes which ensures transparency and comparability. ECTS is applied to lifelong learning. General arrangement for the recognition of non- formal and informal learning are explained in the Rules of Procedure for the Recognition of Prior Learning( hyperlink) which were endorsed by the Senate in 2012. The document explains the process, the criteria and the recognition.
Qualification requirements and regulation:
In order to obtain the qualification and professional Master’s degree , the student has to fulfil the following programme requirements:
- To acquire course learning outcomes that ensures knowledge on the latest theories and practice in the field
- To acquire research skills, innovation and project skills, course in business administration
- Has to study pedagogy and psychology courses
- Has to do a company placement
- Has to prepare and defend the Master’s degree thesis.
Profile of the programme:
The aim of the Programme is to ensure professional Master’s degree studies backed on scientific basis, after acquiring of which the student is equipped with appropriate level of skills and competences so that he can secure competitive performance of the company, its constant growth of value basing on its perfect management and to promote innovation development in entrepreneurship medium of Latvia.
The students study under the guidance of experienced and professional academic staff and acquire 66 ECTS. The students have international study environment. The students are eligible to study under Erasmus exchange programme. They have also the opportunity to study with international academic staff from partner universities.
The study process is carried out basing on “problem-based learning”, i.e. on the analysis of problematic situations and on other investigated materials, so that students can develop their skills to apply theory, to discuss and to prove their point of view. They should be able to present theoretical basis of the obtained investigation results when analysing literature sources and practical problems of their field.
Key learning outcomes:
In the programme for the graduates the following learning outcomes are determined:
1) Demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding about competitiveness in the lon-run grounding on innovative solutions, which, in its turn, lies at the basis of the business leading for a long while, creative thinking and research work;
2) Apply independently the latest theories, methods and problem solving skills in order to be able to do research work and highly professional activities to create new theories and to promote innovative entrepreneurship;
3) Make and prove decisions, as well as integrate knowledge of different spheres in development of innovative entrepreneurship and carry out professional activities using the latest trends;
4) Can present arguments, debate on complex business issues in local and international environment in order to facilitate innovative entrepreneurship
5) Constantly direct perfection of competences and professional growth in order to promote innovative entrepreneurship
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples:
Graduates work in companies and institutions, both public and private, they work as small / medium size company maangers or as managers/ heads of departaments. In companies they testify their competence in managing , solving problems and making decisions, thus ensuring innovation processes.
Access to further studies:
The graduates of Professional Master’s degree programme are eligible for further studies at Doctoral degree programmes.
